There’s a gentle herbal note to this wine, what one taster described as linden, another as pea tendrils. There’s also a smoky note of the earth, as if brought out by aging in oak, though the barrels did not contribute an overt woody character. The alcohol takes time to integrate, the wine much smoother and knit the day after it’s first opened, predicting a long life ahead.

Note: from 4 different parcels in both climats aggregating .85 ha Pear, apple and acacia blossom scents are trimmed in both hints of wood and toasted hazelnut. The wonderfully rich, round and supple flavors possess a highly seductive texture while exhibiting fine length on the more refined if slightly austere finish. This isn't especially dense but the bright citrus-tinged and firm acidity shaping the mouthfeel makes this highly refreshing. This tension-filled effort is also really quite lovely. *Burghound Outstanding!*

The Matrots used bougies and pruned late so there was a bit more crop here, though still only 8 barrels instead of 20. First generation grapes have given a richer, riper nose. More complete on the palate, fills out all the way, nicely nuanced with some citrus at the finish which is altogether more persistent. Better texture as well. Drink from 2025-2031.
