In 1999, the first vintage of Mounir Saouma's wines burst onto the scene in Burgundy. He was a Lebanese who had learned how to make wine while staying in a monastery in the Middle East. Fascinated, he went to Montpellier to study oenology and, after working in various wineries in France and California, he ended up founding a négoce in Burgundy with his wife Rotem Brakin. Rotem is an agricultural engineer and has won awards for her studies on the Côte d'Or.

The affable and outgoing nature of this couple has brought them close friendships among the winegrowers of the best Premiers and Grands Crus of the Côte d'Or, where the vast majority of their wines come from. Despite not owning vineyards, they have managed to place each and every one of their cuvées at the highest level of quality in Bourgogne.

At their Beaune winery, Mounir and Rotem age their wines in new, softly toasted, fine-grained Jupilles oak barrels, specially made for them. Lucien Le Moine wines are bottled by gravity and unfiltered, preserving a quantity of natural CO2 generated during malolactic fermentation.

The Saouma-Brakin couple personally supervises each and every step of the production process in a completely artisanal way. The result of this commitment and their way of understanding oenology.
Synonymous with elegance and character, these wines represent, year after year, a fantastic catalogue of the best terroirs of Burgundy.
