Sweetly ripe Bing cherry and dark sour cherry scents dominate the nose of this rich and somewhat dramatic young Pinot Noir, along with notes of pomegranate, star anise, mace and five spice which find an engaging harmony. Sour and Bing cherry dominate on the palate as well, along with star anise, nutmeg, hazelnut and five spice. These flavors coat the mouth yet never seem heavy or hot, and the finish, if youthfully sweet-savory dominated, is extremely long. Certain to be distinctive and delicious in another 2-3 years and well beyond, it is very attractive dinner wine now, if given some airing. A very concentrated and focused Pinot Noir, it is likely to ultimately outshine the producers Stargazer bottling.
