The Land:

Nestled in the Jura’s Arbois appellation, Clos Saint-Laurent is a high-altitude vineyard with marl and limestone soils, reminiscent of Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. The cooler climate and well-draining terroir create an ideal environment for Pinot Noir, yielding wines with precision, elegance, and a vibrant mineral core. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically, ensuring a deep connection between the vines and their unique Jura landscape.

The Wine:

This is a singular expression of Jura Pinot Noir—delicate yet structured, with an unmistakable energy. Fermented with native yeasts and aged in neutral oak, the Clos Saint-Laurent is bright and layered, offering wild raspberry, tart cherry, and subtle floral notes, underscored by a stony minerality and fine-grained tannins. The wine’s freshness and acidity give it remarkable lift, making it both immediately enticing and promising for further development in the cellar.

The People:

Domaine du Pélican is one of Jura’s benchmark estates, founded by Guillaume d’Angerville of Burgundy’s legendary Domaine Marquis d’Angerville. Drawn to Jura’s incredible terroir, d’Angerville established the estate in 2012, applying the same meticulous biodynamic practices used in his Volnay vineyards. With an unwavering focus on purity and site expression, Pélican crafts some of the region’s most refined wines, bridging the elegance of Burgundy with the Jura’s distinctive sense of place.
