The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie is another one of the standouts in the range, offering up aromas of citrus zest, mint, crisp green apple, white flowers and freshly baked bread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy palate that's suave, seamless and penetrating.

This is moderately reduced and unreadable presently. There is slightly better volume and mid-palate density to the caressing but decidedly punchy flavors that terminate in an impressively long, well-balanced and dry-in-the-best sense finale where a hint of bitter lemon slowly emerges. Maltroie isn't typically more interesting than a quality Chenevottes but this one appears to be just that, at least now in any case. (Drink starting 2030)
